What is the best way to color treat a dime-sized spot on a brown leather sofa?

Question by Meadowlark: What is the best way to color treat a dime-sized spot on a brown leather sofa?
What is te best way to color treat a spot on this leather sofa? After shave was used to remove pen markings unfortunately it removed the color and a dime-sized white spot is there. They have used shoe polish but said it comes off. What is the best way to cover up this imperfection?

The only way now is to have it professionally recoloured. The alcohol in the after shave will have removed the pigment/finish from the leather and this now needs replacing. Unfortunately this is the problem with advice being given on the internet as most of it is incorrect and will damage your leather (sometimes beyond repair)

Shoe polish should never be used on furniture and DIY repair products will rarely work. There may now be an adhesion problem if there were any silicones in the shoe polish so this is definitely one for a qualified technician who will also be able to match the colour correctly.
