Will 3 - 60 watt bulbs give off more light than 1 - 100 watt bulb in a dining room light fixture?

Query by CuriousB: Will three - 60 watt bulbs give off a lot more light than 1 - a hundred watt bulb in a dining area light fixture?
Our outdated ceiling fan took a a hundred watt bulb (in a round white globe) and that was sufficient light for this place, our new fixture requires two - 60 watt bulbs and it is as well dark. Ideally making use of only one fixture how can I get this place lit up to the 100 watts of light we had just before ?

sure 80 more watts to be specific, the fixture may not be rated for that so you could want to check the capability of the fixture to stay away from an electrical fire.If you chose to go with the fluorescent bulbs make positive you get the ones that really don't buzz they are bothersome.
