how high/or low should the light above the dining room table be?

Query by da goddess: how high/or very low should the light previously mentioned the dining place table be?
I just hung a new chandelier over my dining place table. I cannot figure out if it is to high or to low. I don't want it to be to substantial so that we are searching into a light bulb but not so reduced that it is head banger.

Does any 1 know the etiquette for proper / suggest height of a light above a dining area table?

If you want it to be a table fixture - it really should hange wherever the bottom is approx. 30 in over the table.
